Over two days, roll up your sleeves and get into some serious furniture making.

Students enrolled in this class will be introduced to the FESTOOL Domino cutter. They will use a suite of jigs to allow them to work with millimetre accuracy in jointing the eucalypt components of their stool frame together.  Seats for each stool frame will involve laminating strips of veneer-grade Blackwood together. This produces a rich, comb-like textured surface that complements the oiled hardwood legs.

This workshop is a challenging but highly rewarding activity.

What's included:

  • Guidance from a woodworking expert.

  • All materials and equipment provided.

  • Light refreshments and lunch each day.

  • You own jointed hardwood stool.

Duration: Run over a weekend

(Saturday and Sunday, 9am - 4pm)

Number of participants: - 6

Cost: $520 per person

VENEERED BOX

Over two days, design and make a solid timber box with a decorative, veneered lid.

Participants in this project will be taught some basic marking out skills, and use tenon saws and angled shooting planes to produce perfectly mitred corner joints. The other techniques this project covers are an introduction to working with veneers and developing suitable design ideas. Once the lids have been cut and the surfaces finish sanded and oiled, participants will line their box with handmade Japanese paper.

This is a reasonably challenging class that covers a broad range of making techniques.

What's included:

  • Guidance from a woodworking expert.

  • All materials and equipment provided.

  • Light refreshments and lunch each day.

  • Your own veneered box.

Duration: Run over a weekend

(Saturday and Sunday, 9am - 4pm)

Number of participants: 2 - 8

Cost: $520 per person
